Sara's Night Out

Sara is invited to more parties than any of us! Ranging from Expat parties, to Pincess's Parties!
One such party took place in the Hilton here in KL. It was a posh affair with "Real Food", (not just pizzas!), Black Dress/Suit.

Sara teamed up with her friend Lauren and went off to have their hair done and one of Lauren's neighbours is a photographer, so she popped round to do some shoots. I only have one snap so far, but there are two more lovely pictures which I will add once I have them.

MAGIC WISH

Every contemplated owning a Race-Horse?....What about an ex-Race Horse?? An even harder question, even for the equine minded, taking on an ex-racehorse is a big risk. ...So what has Jo (blogs) here gone and done??

Yep, got myself a three times gold cup winning (ex) Racehorse. Magic Wish broke down on his 53 race about 3 years ago with breathing complications and was due to be put down. Margaret who is a retired Race Horse Trainer from Australia new the horse and took him home with her back to her Son's Livery Yard in KL.

He has been there ever since, only just being brought back into work by a stable hand who happened to be an ex-amateur jockey. He has been schooling him for the past 12 months, but unfortunately Margaret is moving back to Australia, the Yard is short of space. Magic is not earning his keep and is not going to be suitable for the riding school. Therefore Margaret thought it best to have him put down. Until Chris (Instructor) thought I might like to have him. If he gifted me the horse, I could then pay Livery to keep the horse at the yard. The problem with that was We didn't fancy paying full livery on him and also owning the horse would be a big drawback when we came to move back to the UK....we wanted to keep our options open.

So Chris agreed to maintain ownership of the horse and I pay half liverly for him. This seems to be working fine, I get to ride Magic whenever I want and they look after his well being. Plus it meant that I wouldnt have to go out and buy Magic a whole new wardrobe!

SARA SKIING AUSTRIA

Sara was lucky enough to go skiing with 39 other students from Alice Smith to Austria (of all places!) in February. It took them 10 hours on the plane to Vienna, then 3 hours by coach to reach the resort. It was Sara's first time skiing, so she spent the first two days getting the hang of skis and poles. Then she was off (as you can imagine).

ISAKL ALTHLETICS COMPETITION

This weekend saw the anual ISAKL (International Schools Athletics KL), 6 schools took part from all over Malaysia, competing in track and field events.

Alice Smith had a good team going, and from the start seemed to be sweeping the board.

This was Charlotte's 1st competition ever and she was pretty nervious. Along with the fact that the kids have had 2 weeks off school and were not at their fittest. Charlotte was in the first Girls 800m race with fellow year friends Nicol and Elana. All three picked up the podium places, with Nicol 1st, Elana 2nd, and Charlotte 3rd.

The 4oom race was run in three heats. With Charlotte, Nicol and Elana running in three seperate heats. The first race was won by Nicol, the second by Charlotte and the third by Elana. The overall winning time was picked up by Charlotte, beating her school mates by 2 seconds!, she shared the podium with Nicola 2nd and Elana 3rd.

It was really a great day for Alice Smith, picking up so may medals. They really do have some great athelites in their school. Graham was over the moon! He had not seen Charlotte run before and it was a real tear jerker to see her do so well.
