Children in Schools

After a week of being here, recovering, and getting our bearings. It was time to get the kids into school. Graham had already done all the hard work. Applications, finance and location of the best schools in the area. The one and only British curriculum school is Alice Smith, so it seemed the sensible choice. Its a school that prides itself on how and where it started. Back in 1956 in Alice Smith's own house. Its a school that is continuously growing and a newly built year 3/4 block has just been completed with more land purchased just across the road to build further classrooms. It presently teaches a total of 15oo children for the Junior School and about 550 for the Senior.
The school follows the British Curriculum, but also keeps the kids motivated and active threwout the terms with Activity Weeks, Year Productions, Trips, Story Tellers and specialist visitors. They have a lovely 25m outdoor swimming pool, and spacious sports facilities with about 5 fulltime PE teachers and assistants.
The Junior School is about 15minutes drive from the house. Charlotte and Hamish get a lift to school from me in the morning (leaving the house at 7.20am). Bell goes at 7.45am, and the mums all gather at the deli for a coffee and a chat. Then the kids get the bus home at 2pm.
Sara attends the Alice Smith Senior School which is based out of KL and takes about 45minutes to get there...if you are brave! The road system is a bit complicated, so not many parents brave the trip, leaving the kids to go on the school buses.
